What is a Transport?
A volunteer transport is used to move animals from a rescue/shelter/foster home to
another rescue/foster/adoptive home. The trip is broken into short legs. Volunteers
drive one or two legs and then transfer the dog/s and/or cat/s to the next driver who
drives the next leg or two and so on until the animal reaches its destination.
Volunteers are needed everywhere, but especially in the South, Mid-South and the
Mid-West. Typically legs are approximately one hour, but can usually be adjusted to
be shorter or longer depending on how much time you can spare. Transports most
often occur on the weekends, but sometimes occur during the week. When you volunteer
to participate in a transport, you are helping to save a life (sometimes many).

The Passengers:
Marsha is just a young girl, a little golden/red soft ball of cuteness; probably a bit under a year. She loves people and dogs and wants to play; she took an amazing interest in a ball of twine in the yard area
Alice is a Pug\Beagle mix who is closer to the Beagle size than the Pug. She is a lively girl who loves people and dogs. She is not too great on the leash, but seems to learn quickly.
Cindy is a pretty little black Beagle mix, but I am not sure where the color is coming from; she is quite lovely. She is an owner surrender, and is quite scared at the shelter. She is friendly, though, and does well once she begins to trust her handler a bit. She is fine with other dogs, and does not seem to be fear aggressive.
Maxwell is a beautiful red/golden Doberman/hound mix. He has a great temperament and gets along with people and other dogs well.

Hi all,
I
am trying to move 8 cats from Shelbyville to Nicola in WI. This is a
little out of the ordinary. Nicola (who has been a faithful driver of
mine for years, and who I trust implicitly) works with her vet clinic
and screens the homes for the kittens, so they are not officially going
to a rescue, they are, however, fully vetted and will have health certificates to go to their new forever homes.
I
know some of you would rather not drive for kittens because they are
everywhere. Nicola has found that the kittens that James has at the
shelter and Kelly has fostered, are healthy and happy, and wants to
help James stay no kill. So, please consider helping save this
precious, little lives, even though it’s a little odd and doesn’t
necessarily fit into the category of a “regular” rescue or transport.
The kittens will ride in kennels with portable litter boxes along with water and food.
