What is a Transport?
A volunteer transport is used to move animals from a rescue/shelter/foster home to
another rescue/foster/adoptive home. The trip is broken into short legs. Volunteers
drive one or two legs and then transfer the dog/s and/or cat/s to the next driver who
drives the next leg or two and so on until the animal reaches its destination.
Volunteers are needed everywhere, but especially in the South, Mid-South and the
Mid-West. Typically legs are approximately one hour, but can usually be adjusted to
be shorter or longer depending on how much time you can spare. Transports most
often occur on the weekends, but sometimes occur during the week. When you volunteer
to participate in a transport, you are helping to save a life (sometimes many).
If you would like to volunteer to drive a leg of a transport, please contact one of the
transport coordinators listed in the transports posted below.

We’re trying to move 16 dogs and 1 cat this weekend from the well past, packed Shelbyville shelter. Things are at critical mass at the shelter, as usual, and these animals are desperate to move! James is going to be forced, again, to make THAT decision without help. THIS IS THE ONLY CHANCE THESE ANIMALS HAVE TO LIVE!! James is again, very close to having to put animals down for space for the first time in over a year and this is their chance to get out. Every week is a crap shoot as to who might die and who won’t and every week it comes down to these transports to save lives.
DRIVERS WILL BE ASSIGNED TO CARS BECAUSE DOGS WILL BE LEAVING THROUGHOUT THE RUN…PLEASE BE COGNIZANT OF WHICH DRIVER YOU WANT TO BE. THANKS!

We’re trying to move 16 dogs and 1 cat this weekend from the well past, packed Shelbyville shelter. Things are at critical mass at the shelter, as usual, and these animals are desperate to move! James is going to be forced, again, to make THAT decision without help. THIS IS THE ONLY CHANCE THESE ANIMALS HAVE TO LIVE!! James is again, very close to having to put animals down for space for the first time in over a year and this is their chance to get out. Every week is a crap shoot as to who might die and who won’t and every week it comes down to these transports to save lives.
DRIVERS WILL BE ASSIGNED TO CARS BECAUSE DOGS WILL BE LEAVING THROUGHOUT THE RUN…PLEASE BE COGNIZANT OF WHICH DRIVER YOU WANT TO BE. THANKS!
COLLARS ARE FOR ID PURPOSES ONLY!!! PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN COLLARS AND LEADS .
These babies will have all paperwork and health certificates accompanying them. The cat will have crates with disposable litter boxes and food and water.
