Shelter Support/Rescue
Mission Statement:
AARF is a group of volunteers dedicated to reducing the number of euthanized cats and dogs in the Ashland Kentucky area. Through generous donations, the volunteers are able to pay the county pull fee, provide needed vetting, INCLUDING ALTERATIONS, boarding and transport to approved rescues. The volunteers work closely with the county pound, vets and rescues to see these animals, slated for euthanasia, find a safe place to land before their forever homes are found.
Please know we are not the pound. We work closely with the County Pound staff to move animals as quickly as possible. We will work diligently to see our list is updated but the pound cannot HOLD animals.

Donations: ARF is in immediate need of funds! We cannot pull anymore animals from our local kill shelters until we raise funds for vetting and boarding. We have saved over 350 animals this year but desperately need continued support to save more. If your organization or group would like to help raise funds for AARF please contact ashlandanimalrescuefund@gmail.com. WISH LIST- *Used blankets, towels *Paper towels *Used collars and leashes *Nylabones (durable) *Kongs *Peanut Butter *Puppy and kitten food dry and wet (preferrably IAMS or comporable) *Crates (cat and dog) *Donations of FRONTLINE Brand flea and tick treatment *Money for veterinary costs and boarding fees can be directly donated to AARF's account with the Ashland Animal Clinic 606-324-2984. If you would like to donate online please select our paypal button and sponsor a dog to safety!!!  http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/KY314.html

Shelter Support/Rescue
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to help underserved shelters improve the treatment and care available to animals in their custody and to reduce the number of potentially adoptable pets that are euthanized.  Brighter Days acts as a liaison between shelters and rescue groups, coordinating rescue efforts and transportation, providing positive publicity, and increasing shelter visibility within the community. Brighter Days also works directly with shelters to help improve shelter conditions through fundraising, donations, and capacity building. Brighter Days members foster former shelter animals, vetting them and offering them for adoption to responsible homes.BDFS is a foster-based network in the greater Lexington area and has no central location.
Adopting: The animals offered for adoption through BDFS are nearly all animals from the shelters that we work with. These animals are fostered in our members’ homes, quarantined, fully vetted, temperament tested, and many have begun basic training. Adoption Fees: Dogs may be adopted for between $100 and $250. Cats may be adopted for $65-150. All animals come to you spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. All cats are combo tested and negative for leukemia and feline AIDS; dogs over 6 months are tested and negative for heartworms. All animals have been dewormed, treated with a flea and tick preventative, and dogs are current on heartworm preventative. All animals are microchipped for permanent identification.
Donating: BDFS can always use your help! Please check the supply list on our website for items that participating shelters have requested. If you have supplies you’d like to donate, let us know and we’ll pick them up! Monetary donations are also always appreciated and can be made quickly and safely using our PayPal button. http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/KY246.html

Shelter Support
Mission Statement:
Non-profit animal welfare organization with one primary purpose - to reduce the number of homeless, unwanted and uncared for animals in Bell County. Three main objectives: Promote Responsible Pet Ownership; Encourage Spaying and Neutering; and Support the Bell County animal shelter.
Spay/Neuter:
Spay/Neuter Programs: SNAP program is for individual pet owners who need assistance in getting their pets spayed or neutered.  The client pays as much as they can afford of the cost of the spay/neuter surgery. Friends of the Shelter will pay any remaining expense for the operation, keeping in mind that the more each client pays, the more people we can help. Free Spay/Neuter Clinics: At least once each year the FOS hosts a free clinic for for pet owners who need financial assistance in getting their pet spayed or neutered. Each clinic will spay or neuter as many as 80 animals, providing basic health checkups on each along with some vaccinations. Working to prevent homeless animals from occurring in the first place!

Other Information: Becoming a member of FOS - Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings, every fourth Monday at 7:00 PM, at the Bell County Health Department office, behind the Chamber of Commerce in Middlesboro.

Shelter Support
Mission Statement:  This organization funds and oversees the Adoptions Program at the Shelter, provides spay/neuter for shelter animals and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for low income pet owners, offers behavioral modification and training information to help keep pets in their homes, offers humane education materials and visits to local schools, and pet therapy visits to nursing homes
Spay/Neuter:
Two programs designed to help owners who cannot afford regular prices for spay/neuter surgery. Our programs are intended for people on public assistance, disability, social security, or temporarily stressed financially. We also will help caretakers of feral cat colonies, or people who have out-of-control populations ("barn cats"), or other special circumstances. Cats - Spay/neuter surgery is done at our weekly clinic in Bardstown by veterinarians who come over from Versailles. The surgeries cost us approximately $25 for females and $15 for males, and we ask for a donation to cover expenses. Dogs - Our organization received grant money from the DJ&T Foundation in California so that we can offer vouchers to help with the cost of surgery at a private veterinary clinic. These vouchers are honored by all Bardstown veterinarians and by some clinics in surrounding counties.

Rescue
Mission Statement:
Sylvia's Animal Sanctuary is a small organization located in Eastern Kentucky that is dedicated to the rescue and placement of homeless and abused dogs and cats. Sylvia's is also focused on the rescue of animals in other shelters in various counties that are in danger of euthanization. We believe in educating others, especially children in school, about the benefits of spay and neuter, loving and caring for their pets, and behavioral training.
Other Information: Sylvia's Animal Sanctuary was born in June of 2008, working to reach out to surrounding counties to save as many as possible from euthanization. We have fundraisers planned for the rest of the year so that we continue to assist other shelters. In May we joined forces with 3 other Eastern KY Rescues to form "Eastern Kentucky Animal Rescue" (EKAR) because there is strength in numbers and also to enable us to reach out even further.
