I am one person trying to make a difference. My goal is to create a "hub" where individuals and divergent groups can come together and make the efforts of those trying to help animals in Kentucky and elsewhere more efficient by communicating and sharing needs, information, and ideas on one site. People will have access to information about the plight of animals and can use this site to discover information and resources they did not know
existed. Hopefully, by helping one another and networking in a more efficient manner, time will be saved and duplication of efforts will be eliminated. Transports will be created and filled more easily. Those with more resources can help those with fewer increase their ability to save animals. People not involved with rescue will be educated about the problems that exist and discover what they can do to help. I believe Henry Ford was correct when he said: "Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success."The WebsiteThis website is not affiliated with any group. It has no agenda other than helping to solve some of the problems in Kentucky. Because Kentucky shares a border with many states, I am starting to include shelters, rescues, and organizations in Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Missouri, Virginia and Tennessee.I try to add something new every day and update as soon as I receive corrections/additions. I want to thank everyone who has sent me updates, corrections, additions, suggestions, and has offered to help.
What's New
I created a page called "Communicate--Other Voices" which is a place to post information about states other than Kentucky. However, I don't have enough minutes in the day to keep the website updated, so this page may evolve to become something else--maybe a place to list shelters in each state that constantly need help. If you would like to contribute to the page or have suggestions, please send me an email via the "CONTACT US" page.
You will note that some of the pages on this website are "Under Construction", incomplete, or contain out of date information. I am constantly updating, adding information, and/or revising pages. Keeping links open, updating, and maintaining this website is an overwhelming task, so if you have any additions, corrections, and/or would like to help in some way, please email me. I have changed the "Title" of the Miscellaneous page to ADOPT. Under each breed I am adding links to similar dogs that are available at shelters and rescues in Kentucky and surrounding states.
The website now has its own Facebook page. Please search for it under "KY Central". Although the name reflects only one state, the problems that exist in Kentucky extend beyond the borders. The problems are global. The Facebook page is a place where groups, organizations, animal advocates, transport coordinators, shelters, humane societies, transporters, foster homes, and anyone who would like to do something to make a difference can come together, share information and ideas, help one another save lives, and bring about change.
How You Can HelpPlease bookmark this website, recommend it to others, post it on a message board, and/or add it as a link in your messages, website, and Myspace/Facebook pages. The website will be successful only if people are aware that it exists and visit it often. Please continue to send me updates, corrections, additions, suggestions, and events/activities.
My Two CentsThe website is not about me. However, it does reflect my feelings, personality, and beliefs. This is one of my favorite links:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGYdN1H8uhY
