Can you please pass this along to anyone who might be willing to help?
Recycled Doggies is drowning in vet bills right now. We don't shy away from the
dogs with issues, but we usually have adoptions happening at the same time to
help us with our bills, and right now we just aren't having any adoptions, so
we are desperate for some help. Rufus's story will touch people's
heart. He's so sweet.

Rufus was in bad shape last weekend when Deb Miller and I met him on
Sunday February 21st. Rufus was hit by a car 4 months ago and then he
ended up at the Gallatin County Shelter in
Please help us. This was an unexpected expense for
us. Deb and I just couldn't leave Rufus at that house even one
more day - he needed our help. Now Recycled Doggies needs your help to
pay for Rufus's vet bill.
Thank you,
Shannon DeBra

Ever since Maggie has been at the shelter she has continued to get
skinnier. Also, she has been vomiting blood, and has diarrhea. Maggie
was almost put to sleep because of her health problems simply because
black labs are the hardest to get adopted in shelters even if they are
healthy.
However, when the staff looked in to her big brown eyes and
saw her ever wagging tail, we knew that we had to make every effort to
save the precious girl. That's why she is now at the vets office
undergoing tests. However, we must raise the money to pay for her care.
Please, we know that Maggie is worth saving! All of our vet bills are
paid with donations. It's up to caring people like you to give Maggie a
second chance at life. We couldn't turn away from her. Can you? THERE IS A LINK ON MAGGIE'S PETFINDER PAGE TO DONATE FOR MAGGIE'S CARE. PLEASE HELP US SAVE MAGGIE'S LIFE!Forest~HELP~ Beagle Medium
Baby
Male ADOPTED!
Owner Surrender/Medical Needs Approximate Age: 4 Months
This poor baby is suffering from one of the worst cases of rickets we
have ever seen! When he was surrendered we immediately took him to the
vet for medical evaluation. They placed splints on his legs to try and
straighten them out. UPDATE" Forest was taken to the vet's office today for a check up on his
splints, and unfortunately they did not work. The damage done to his
legs was beyond what splints were able to fix. At this point in order
to save this precious baby, he must be seen by an orthopedic specialist
who would be able to break his legs and set them straight. This will be
a very expensive procedure, one that is beyond the shelter's
capability, funds are extremely limited at this time, and the only
thing that will save Forest right now is for a rescue group or person
to step forward and take this wonderful little beagle boy. If you take
a moment to watch the video of him you will see how adorable he is, as
well as how badly he needs help. Please, from the bottom of our hearts,
help us save this puppy. Wheather it be a donation towards his care, or
a simple prayer, it will be greatly appreciated.

**A donation fee of $300-$350 applies for this dog; keep in mind
donations are based solely on veterinarian care received during rescue.
Note that we are a 100% non-profit organization, and all money received
in donations goes DIRECTLY to the care of our rescued dogs.**
Tazzy, who has been at the vets since Thanksgiving, is going to her
foster home today. We had some shocking news when we were handed her
bill, and we have 'upped' the chip in. We also learned that she will
require further surgeries to her legs. The skin/muscle was scraped from
her bones, and skin grafts were done by stretching remaining skin. The
vets feel more work will need to be done to repair some muscle, and
keep infection at bay. Thank you all so much for what you have given....
Tazzy is a very sweet Great Dane mix that was
used for sport by her owner. He liked to get high on drugs then hit her
with his vehicle. As her latest wounds can testify, this time he probably tied
her to his vehicle and dragged her. Tazzy is presently at 60 lbs and should
weigh well over 100 lbs. She has old scars and wounds that attest to the
fact this wasn't the first time she'd been put through such severe abuse.
Her physical wounds are bad and vet bills will be high. The worse wounds
are under the bandages and it's amazing she can stand.
Please help by donating to her vet costs. Tazzy is a gentle animal
that wags her damaged tail whenever you speak a kind word or give a soft pat to
her head.

The shelter was broken into over the weekend. They took several declawed cats, 2 puppies, and 5 small dogs, and all the pet food. The assumption is that the dogs, who were almost all spoken for with rescues, and cats will be used as bait animals.
Is there anyway to raise funds for more food or something. I'm just sick this has happened. I'm sure the county law enforcement will do little if anything.
The building needs alarms, maybe even some fake cameras and signs saying the place is under surveillance. Any recommendations or suggestions.

UPDATE 1/30 WE HAVE REACHED ONLY 48% of GOAL! THE CHIP-IN ENDS FEBRUARY 6th! 14 dogs are safe and sound. We are working on more. Thanks to all, and here's to a warm fluffy bed for every dog. PLEASE HELP US SAVE MORE DOGS!
Holly came to us at 1:30 a.m.. on Tuesday morning. She had been found
lying with a yellow lab on the side of a road. When they brought her to
my home, she was unresponsive and nearly comatose. Her core body
temperature was 96 degrees, which is more than five degrees below
normal. Imagine if your temperature was 93 degrees and you have the
idea. She was so cold she wasn't shivering. She was a hair's breadth
from death and she lived only because someone took the time to pick her
up and get her to safety. We don't generally rescue Schnoodles (not big
or fluffy), but it is everyone's responsibility to step in to help all
dogs in need regardless of breed.
Forced
to take immediate measures, Tracy Moser, (pictured with her own two
fur-babies) owner of RePets Animal Rescue and Adoption Center in
Bowling Green, Kentucky is asking for any type of donation or
assistance to keep RePets operating.
The slow economy, high expenses and a lease set to expire in February at her Fairview Plaza Shopping Center location has motivated her to do whatever it takes to keep her rescue and adoption center open and save the many animals there.
RePets Accepts Creatures Big and Small
Moser has helped more than 3,000 homeless, neglected and abused animals find loving homes. Dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, ducks, fish, mice, cockatiels, even a couple of frogs, an iguana and one Chinese water dragon, to name just a few, have all benefited from her care. At this time there are approximately 160 available pets at RePets waiting for someone to adopt them.
RePets, a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) animal welfare organization, says it accepts any animal as long as it does not require the feeding of another animal.
In
addition, Moser takes animals from low-funded, rural shelters in
surrounding areas that have little hope of ever being adopted, which
results in higher vet expenses for RePets when she comes to the aid of
a dog suffering with an untreated broken leg or a cat with an eye
problem. As a rescue mission, that partly explains RePets' current
outstanding vet bills of more than $6,000 for broken teeth, x-rays,
medication and more.
Searching for New Location by February
"I'm searching every day for a new location, but with donations down, the economy so slow and rent so high, I feel like our best option is to buy or lease a place that's big enough for our rescue and our Thrift Store," Moser says.
The Thrift Store operates
solely to benefit Moser's animal rescues with 100 percent of any Thrift
Store purchase or donation going towards the rescue and care for
animals until their adoption.
Certainly, the poor economy has hit everyone, and Moser is hoping she can find a space to rent for less than what she's paying now, yet big enough to house both RePets and the Thrift Store before time runs out.
She says, "We'll take anything anyone can do!"

For More Information
The Owen County shelter is operated by a small non-profit group called Owen County Friends of Animals Inc. The county provides the small shelter (11-runs, 2 of which are currently broken and unusable), maintenance of the facility and utilities. We provide all the labor as well as all other supplies including food, cleaning supplies etc.. The county also provides the dog warden who has no problem or qualms about picking up 25-30 dogs a month.
We have worked diligently to save 1,145 dogs since 2005 reducing Owen county's atrocious kill rate from 100% to 0%. The county can legally euthanize after 5 days but due to our dedication to getting the dogs into foster, adoptive or rescue placements they have allowed us to run the facility as we see fit. OCFA Inc. does not view euthanasia as an option.
We incur a great deal of debt while working to place these dogs and need financial assistance. We recently had to incur the bill for a leg amputation and other major medical issues. We owe 2 vets as well as a local farm coop for supplies.
If you can help us with a donation of any amount, it would be greatly appreciated. You can mail a check to:
